This beautiful necklace belonged to my wife's favorite aunt that recently passed away. We are selling some of her jewelry to help pay for care her uncle who is disabled needs that was previously done by his wife that passed away. My wife's aunt had excellent taste in jewelry and only bought the best as this piece of jewely shows. She bought this ruby pendant many years ago (about 30) in India when she would travel around the world with her husband. She had the necklace appraised in 2005 at $68,000. Gold, as well as the Burmese rubies this quality have gone up signficantly since then.
I hope someone that enjoy vintage high quality jewelry buys this and enjoys it as much as my wife's aunt. I see similar Indian jewelry but much smaller size than this necklace with names such as "NAVRATNA" "KUNDAN JADAU.
The pendant alone is beautiful and can be worn on a gold chain or on the rubies bead necklace that could be worn by themselves if you desire to take the necklace apart. Note that these rubies are large and have the deepest red color. This is a collectors piece and truly a good investment as quality natural rubies become more rare and in demand.
