U2158 | ANTIQUE ART DECO DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING WITH CHARM AND HISTORY
THE SWEET STORY OF THIS RING:
I buy thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry at my showroom in San Diego. I do that every week. So, I see a great many vintage and antique engagement rings. It’s not all that often that I get a chance to see such an incredible example of Art Deco beauty, though. When a young couple brought the ring to me, I immediately found the striking, bold design very appealing. Then, I learned the story and I liked it even more! It was originally owned by the young man’s great grandmother, who got married in 1939. She married her childhood sweetheart, and they had a wonderful life which was interrupted when he had to head across the country for work. When he proposed, the sweetheart couldn’t afford a wedding ring, but when he came back from the other coast; he brought this ring to her. She loved it and they enjoyed time together as man and wife until World War II broke out and he joined the Navy. While he fought in Europe, she counted the diamonds over and over on the ring, each time telling herself that love was forever and that her husband was coming back. Love is forever. Love is forever. Love is forever. Love is forever. Love is forever. The young man said that to me, touching each diamond as he did. He smiled and said that his great grandmother left the ring to her granddaughter, his mother and she passed it along to him so he could sell it. Why? Because the young woman with him was pregnant! He smiled and told me that love really is forever because his great grandmother was helping them with their baby. I thought that was wonderful and I am thrilled to give a ring with such beauty and such a great story to someone new!
