5.5 ct J/VVS I have a certified appraisal from a NYC jeweler (attached). I did not get a GIA cert. I do not plan on getting one, I did check though it's about $600 to get one for a ring of this size.
The setting contains 32 round diamond weighing another .75 carats. The setting is quite antiquish (the was an inheritance). You can certainly take the diamond out and trade it in for a different very nice setting if you choose!
