Story So the wedding was set. Invitations sent. Visions of a beautiful Hawaiian sunset as the backdrop for picture perfect wedding day photos. But just six weeks before the wedding, a bad break occurred. Literally. My fiancé was walking in downtown Los Angeles and stepped off of a curb into a large pothole – and her ankle immediately broke in two places. Two surgeries and a few pins later, it was decided to put the wedding on hold. Then a short while later, a great job offer came her way some three thousand miles away and our relationship – once as solid as a rock – began to drift. And ultimately it came to a close as she chose to move to the big Apple. So with that comes my dilemma: I literally refinanced my house to purchase this ring: appraised at $21,520 retail.
