1.1 ct Round Diamond and Sapphire Platinum Ring- 5 1/2
This is a stunning, glittery glorious brilliant diamond engagement ring! I am the original owner and want it to find a good home with a loving couple. If your girlfriend said she likes "old fashioned, vintage, classic," look, this is it!! Here are all the details:
Carat: 1.1 round diamond, SI1, D, "Very good" (I just looked it up, this diamond alone retails for $8,000)
Style: Vintage/Antique/Art Deco. There is milgraine detailing interspersed with micropave diamonds running down each side (10 on each side for a total of 20 pave diamonds - actual pieces of diamond). Four-prong setting.
Material: Platinum, with diamond center stone, diamond micropave on sides, and two small sapphire baguettes (all stones have holes in the metal for light to shine through).
Maker: Sholdt rings, a handmade ring maker in Seattle Washington, making rings out of the old Rainier Brewery building (cool!!). It's similar to something in their Fremont collection, but I think this was custom made and there wasn't another like it (at least in 2006).
Age: Diamond has a certification from 2005, but, obviously, the diamond is much, much older...!
Ring's age: Ring was made in 2007, diamond and ring chosen separately.
Sizing: This ring can be made smaller or bigger, by about a half size in each direction. Usually that's a few hundred dollars with platinum (not by me, you'd have to do this for your lady)
Heft: this is a heavy ring! Platinum is a very heavy metal, and this ring really carries the weight.
Cut: Round Elite Diamond
Finish: Polish ; very good
Symmetry: very good
Color: D. This diamond is really insanely pretty and sparkly. It was chosen for its color - D, which is the best color, or rather non-color, that you can get, and means that it is nearly pure white/clear, there is barely any other color in it at all. That's what makes it so sparkly and shiny and reflective. It also gives the illusion that the carat size is bigger than it really is (although 1.1 carats is realy not too shabby...!!)
Clarity: SI1 - "slight imperfection" is the technical term, which means that "under a 10x magnification with a corrected loupe", you an see a handful of specks inside the diamond itself. The ones on this diamond are inside the diamond, not on the surface like some. Counting up all the tiny little red dots on the diamond certificate, I counted about 20 tiny red specks. But, again, there is nothing you can actually see.
Certificate: EGL cert no. 2505976741
NOTE: Some jewelers have told me that the Color rating on EGL diamonds is sometimes higher than the actual color, meaning that they said this is a D, but it's really more like an E or F. That said, I was amways complimented on how white/clear/colorless this diamond was.
This ring was bought and insured originally at $12,500.
Conflict Free: I also have a "guaranteed conflict free" certificate that means the diamond was purchased in compliance with the Kimberly Certification Process.
