Giving Birth Means a Nice Gift For Mom!

Have you heard of this thing called a “birthing gift”? Yes men, when you are finished spending your life savings buying your special someone an engagement ring followed by the leftover barrel scraping dollars on a wedding ring you’re not finished yet! That’s right. You are NOT finished yet. These days you need to consider the “birthing gift.” It means literally what it sounds like. So there you are happily married and you and your love decide to start a family together. After nine months of her carrying a bun in the oven, she delivers the special package and then she gets a gift…….FROM YOU!

Call me biased (I am a women who wants kids one day after all) but this is a genius new trend so genius that I started my investigation as soon as I could.

I accompanied my very pregnant friend and her husband to a little shop in New York’s trendy Soho recently. The husband was doting on her hand and foot lovingly letting her pick out anything in the store that her little very pregnant heart desired. After an hour I realized why she was getting a gift. He felt bad for her and so did I. She was waddling around, sweating and gasping for breath every other second till she proudly announced, “the baby had dropped” (whatever that means).

Fellas, let me tell you…if the lady in your life is willing to stop drinking alcohol, stop eating sushi, get plump and go through labor pains, the least you can do is buy the sweet girl a little special something. If you are anything like my friend’s husband, you’ll need some help. Here’s one suggestion:

I Do Now I Don’t is the featured site in an article on Bloomberg News! Titled “Diamonds Aren’t Forever When Couples Break Up, Cash Out on Web,” the article describes about how our sellers have turned heartache into cash. Or as we like to say don’t get mad break-even!

Aug. 11 (Bloomberg) — After 35-year-old mortgage broker Steven Sherman and his fiancee broke up last year, he kept the 1.7-carat diamond engagement ring he had bought for $8,000. The jeweler who sold it to him offered $2,800 to take it back…..view more

One Divorce + Sell Ring = New Me

Here’s an interesting story attached to a beautiful ring that I came across while browsing through the site:

“Our story had been perfect. My then fiancé and I met at college through a campus ministry. We got engaged after a year and married a year after that. We were smitten with each other. You know what they say about love being blind.

I received compliments on my diamond ring wherever I went; I was so proud of him for picking it out completely on his own. It was beautiful (and still is) exactly what I wanted, platinum, 3 stones, round, simple and exquisite.

However, as I have come to find out, the perfect diamond ring does not equal a perfect marriage. It’s now 5 years later and I am divorced. And while I want to respect the unraveling of our marriage (even though he doesn’t deserve it), I have no reservations about wanting to sell the ring! I know exactly what I want to do with the money :) With my (fairly new) divorce and hopefully the selling of my ring, I have started over in life and want to get something I’ve always wanted for myself (a breast augmentation). So help a girl out and wish me luck!”
